This new venture of voice acting is most certainly an exciting one! The biggest discovery/surprise for me is that the #1 most important element in building this small voice over business is a quality recording. Yes, much more so than how your voice sounds or even your acting abilities. On this element of audio quality I have to give mega kudos and praise to Akhtar Uz Zaman, creator of Master Editor, a course designed to help voice artists and others who are using either Audacity or Adobe Audition. Both are downloadable software apps which enable a narrator to deliver high quality recording and the ability to edit them and meet the specific audio requirements of a given client. While currently taking the Master Editor course, Akhtar has, candidly, been enormously helpful in a 'Lifeguard' metaphor providing guidance in not only using Audacity but calibrating it to my PC, and helping me make the most of my recording environment which can be a challenge for any of us using a home studio- as am I. I'm super stoked I'm taking his course and am very proud to share my praise here in working with him and the Master Editor brand!

I've researched VO programs extensively, and yours is distinct in that it addresses the glaring gap in most programs i.e., enabling the user to create consistently high-quality and cost-effective DIY audios. Keep at it, your business will catch fire as more people discover the unique value of your programs and prudent advice...

As a writer, I was asked to provide audio versions of what I have written. This was more of a daunting task than learning the principles of writing a book or blog. Knowing little, I asked a friend who is a sound engineer and he loaned me a Sennheiser HMD 25 broadcaster headset and told me to use Audacity for recording and editing. New equipment, new software, a NEW adventure. Started recording and then fumbling around with Audacity when I saw an ad for Master Editor providing training for Audacity oriented towards beginners endeavoring to produce audio files of writing or blogs. The price was better than good so I signed up. The Master Editor breaks it down into beginner steps and also provides a bunch of macros that can be used with Audacity that can simplify the whole process of correcting and balancing my audio. (I may not have used those terms correctly as I just learned them in the Audio Clean Up Course he produced.) One of my particular challenges is that I am losing my hearing so the graphic interface that Audacity uses along with personal feedback has been EXTREMELY helpful.

I got the Audio Cleanup course. I do a podcast and was looking for practical but thorough advice on which effects to use, what settings, what order to apply the effects and so on. This course hit the bullseye and is really excellent value for money. I get some really good guests on the podcast and I think applying the lessons I learned will give them the audio they deserve! Anyway, highly recommend!
